Copyright law is a type of intellectual property law that protects "original authorship." Copyright law is governed by the U.S. Copyright Act, which sets forth the types of damages, whether actual or statutory damages that may be available under the law for infringement of a copyright.

Copyright Law

WB Mills represents clients in trademark infringement disputes that threaten the success of their business and in some cases, their livelihood. Whether we are taking action to protect the trademark owner’s rights or defending clients against allegations of trademark infringement, we work with each client to develop and implement effective strategies.

Trademark Law

We handle complex business disputes including trademark infringement, copyright infringement, trade dress infringement, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, tortious interference with a contract and/or business relation, defamation, unfair competition, misappropriation of trade secrets, fraud and matters arising under the Texas Business Opportunities Act.

Business Litigation

We advise clients on the relevant issues surrounding the management or transfer of IP rights, whether through license or assignment agreement.  We have experience drafting and negotiating complex license agreements and counsel clients concerning anticipated issues relating to the law as well as business-related matters.

IP Licensing and Assignments

We help clients develop plans to protect their trade secrets, draft the appropriate agreements and protect their rights through litigation and other actions.

Trade Secrets

We help clients protect their businesses against unfair competition of all sorts, including trademark infringement, trade dress infringement, trade secret misappropriation, fraud and deceptive trade practices. We also defend clients who have received a cease and desist letter or have been sued for alleged unfair competition.
